Yeah, these do run small. I usually wear 3X jackects and shirts but the #x was way too small for me. So I sent it back and ordered a 5X. The 5X is even pushing it fit wise. Overall it is a good value.

Clark K. from Austin, TX:
CRASH TESTED this jacket at 40mph in August (liner removed) and ended up with road rash all over the left side of my abdomen and chest. The pads did a good job protecting my elbows and back but the mesh material on the front did not offer good abrasion protection. Fairly comfortable in high temperatures, breathes well. A lot better than a T-shirt but I have since bought a new jacket for better crash protection.

Kerry C. from FRANKLIN, NC:
My jacket was not as described, however I decided to keep instead of sending back. It did not have the Xelement badges on the arms as described in the item details, and contained a "gun pocket" which was not in item details. I'm 6'2", 180lbs and ordered a large. The jacket fits well and being summer now I zipped out lineing and wear a t-shirt under. Will have room for a base layer with lining installed for cooler weather. The jacket has good airflow for summer heat without lineing.

Joel M. from Pass Christian, MS:
I like it. I bought the 3X as suggested and it is just right (6'3" 250 lbs). I took the liner out as I am on the Gulf Coast. The protective armor is in all the right places and makes me feel confident I would fair better in a tumble. The wind goes right through it so it is like riding with a T-Shirt which if I was stupid (and I used to be) I would do. The Velcro adjustments really make it a custom fit. I am a customer for sure.

DeShawn J. from CONYERS, GA:
I really like the jacket although I had some issues with the fitting. I have a 4xl and the left sleeve fits great but the right sleeve fits tight. I guess it can't be perfect. I just recently rode with it in 41 degree weather and it kept me nice and warm. I am satisfied with the jacket.

Everything you read in previous reviews is true ! This is an excellent warm weather jacket. Comfortable. gave four stars for fit due to neck heeding about 3/4-1" more room. Otherwise, a great jacket I will reccomend to friends.

Dezra P. from Walla Walla, WA:
I ordered this jacket middle of April this year, been wearing it everywhere for about 5 months now, it works beautifully in the 80-100 degree weather we've had here this summer. it wasn't so great for earlier in the year when it was hitting 20 at night, and it's not particularly waterproof, but it's a great summer jacket, and it's cheap. I do have one small complaint, the stitching on the pocket for the removable armor in the left elbow has torn, and the armor keeps trying to slip out the other end. not a big deal, just have to adjust it when I put the jacket on, but still annoying. I suspect my watch is to blame for that one though.

Robert G. from PAROWAN, UT:
Excellent quality jacket. Padding in all the right places. I love the removable liner on cold mornings it keeps me comfortable and blocks the wind. In the afternoon just pull it out and your comfortable in the heat of the day. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great riding jacket but doesn't want to spend a small fortune. Great value! Thank you.

The jacket fits perfectly and handles 90 degree weather like a dream. Plenty of air flow, and the armor pads give piece of mind! Straps and snaps are in all the right places to adjust it so it fits just right.

Nathaniel B. from ATCHISON, KS:
I purchased this for my young son (he rides with me); it's a bit big on him, but with the straps, it cinches right into position and it's fine. Certainly nothing can make an accident feel GOOD, but I feel that the appropiate armor and good skid-proof build of this jacket is great (his mom quit complaining when I got this jacket for him). This jacket is ALL mesh and VERY breathable. As other reviewers have stated, it gets hot in the sun, but once you are moving, it cools right down. For an armored jacket, you couldn't ask for a cooler jacket. In fact, if the temp is less than 60F, my son has to wear his other armored jacket as he gets too cold. NOTE: there aren't really enough pockets in this jacket, but this is my ONLY complaint.

Charles O. from North Andover, MA:
I bought this jacket ~18 months ago and have been wearing it since in all seasons. I'm prompted to write this review because of an accident I had 11/21/11. A car pulled out in front of me while I was doing 35-40mph. I ended up exiting the bike onto the roadway with the bike landing on my left lower leg and ankle. I'm still recovering (12/24/11) from the ankle injuries but my upper body sustained ZERO injuries. Above the waist I had no scratches or bruises whatsoever ... just as if I never had the accident. I swear by this jacket (comfortable except when stopped on a hot day ... OK in motion) for its comfort but mostly for its proven protection. Thank you X-Element.

Michael R. from JACKSONVILLE, NC:
This jacket is great, but isn't as versatile as I was hoping for. The jacket is advertised as waterproof; being entirely out of a mesh material, I expected the liner to at least be waterproof, but it isn't either. That's really my only issue. It's definitely more of a summer jacket. It gets pretty cold here in North Carolina, so I'll resort to my leather jacket once it gets colder. It has unreal ventilation, and I feel a lot more protected when I wear it, but the liner will only allow you to ride comfortably with just a T-shirt underneath in maybe 60 degrees minimum, then you have to layer it up. I bought a Small and it's fine for me. I'm 5'6" and just 130 lbs.

Excellent Jacket for warmer days, Only time I felt it was sitting at a light but when moving the air flows right through it and good armor protection. I'd recommend it.

Robert W. from JACKSONVILLE, NC:
This is a great jacket for the money! Very comfortable with good airflow while riding. It has just enough weight to it to let you know it is there and feels as though it will perform if needed (knock on wood). The quality of the materials and finish is excellent. I'm 6' and 185lbs and the XL fits perfect. The adjustable arm and waist straps allow for a custom fit without the straps flopping around. The only area this jacket is lacking in is night time reflection. The only reflective piping is found on the back edge of the collar (see pictures). If you wear a back pack it may not be visible at all. Aside from the reflective piping this is a great jacket at a great price. I'm glad I waited for Leatherup to re-stock!

William L. from WAKE FOREST, NC:
I am really happy with the jacket. I actually don't mind the patches on the shoulders. Good reflectors at night. The jacket fits perfect. I'm 5-8 230lbs and I workout so the 2xl fit perfect. The liner worked well in the morning in 60 deg and removed it in the afternoon while in the 90's. The jacket breathes great allowing for plenty of cooling at speed. I am very happy with the jacket and would recommend it to anyone. Most importantly it's hard to beat for 70 bucks.

Cody B. from FAYETTEVILLE, AR:
This jacket is pretty nice for the money but I don't know that I would buy it again. I bought the Xelement CF-509 a few months back because this one was out of stock. The CF-509 Medium ran small like most of the reviews on this sight say. When this jacket became available I immediately bought it. To my surprise, the medium in this jacket is actually more like a large. One of the buttons that snaps in the sleeve on the liner popped off the second time I took it out. The liner isn't much of a help on chilly mornings—a hoodie or a regular fleece under the jacket does a much better job. It's as cool as a full armored jacket can get for summer riding in 85 degree weather though but I still think the CF-509 has better ventilation. Hope that helps.

Jim T. from WILTON, MN:
After recently purchasing a Victory Vegas and never having been on longer rides, I didn't know what to to expect out of jackets on long rides. I do have a nice leather jacket and chaps (life savers), but I wanted something for shorter rides. After I received the Xelement jacket I was pleasantly surprised. It was exactly what I was looking for. I am on the border between large to x-large, went with the xl and I am glad, fits good with a T-shirt and there's room for more clothing. Very happy with the purchase!

Joseph Guillory from Kinder, LA:
Excellent jacket...Living in southwest Louisiana means most of your riding is in warm weather. This jacket has great ventilation with the liner removed. The armor is nice also. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was as another customer stated there are two large white logo patches on the shoulders. These are not in the pictures on your site. A small detail I know...but I think I'll take them off with the knife like he did. Great service and short delivery wait...will order again. Joseph, Kinder, LA.
