| These pants run a little smaller than your average blue jeans. I am 5'4, at 110lbs. I usually wear hip hugger jeans between 7-9s, depending on the brand. These are listed as 8-10, so imagine they're probably closer to a 7, respectively, comparing it to some jean brands. They do not run as small as some other reviewers have claimed on other sites where I've found these pants, and it took a girl posting with almost exactly my size dimensions before I felt comfortable ordering these pants.
If you plan on wearing the removable windproof liner, I'd suggest buying a size bigger, unless you're somewhat below/a little under the listed conversion size, because it makes the pants MUCH tighter. Taking them off, it felt pretty comfortable on me, but it could be a little better. The padding and armor fit great, but the waistband is VERY snug, borderline uncomfortable when sitting; its pretty tight around the gut, probably unless you work out your abdomen muscles (and I don't, but I'm still small). I have NOT tried this sitting on my bike yet, just testing it out crossing a leg over my husband's benchpress seat. With the liner in, it makes raising the leg very tight when raising the knee, and I could not raise it so that my upper leg was horizontal with the liner in.
Also when sitting, yes the back does bend out a tiny bit, but the pants do have beltloops, albeit only large nough for a thin belt that isn't very wide. Buttoning the pants with the liner on needed a tiny bit of force; again, they run a tiny bit smaller! The crotch area is also pretty snug, borderline discomfort, but I'm kind of picky about how my clothes fit. If you want to wear pants underneath, make sure you get a size larger. The length is appropriate, at least for someone of my size. The pants come all the way down to my foot, barefooted. if you are tall, you might want to consider a size bigger. Sitting down, they rise like all pants do, probably no more than half an inch, as an estimate. If I return mine for a Medium, I'll post another review. The tag is just on a chain like dog collars run on, so returning it shouldn't be a problem.
The fabric is really nice, the armor and padding, superb in size, comfort, and placement. I couldn't tell I was wearing any! The knee armor, unlike some pants, does not feel like it hangs down half your shin until you are in a sitting position. All in all, very nice pants!!! |
