With a 600 Denier Carbolex® shell that easily converts to an Armor-Link Mesh shell, and vice-versa. The Flex Pants are good for summer, winter, spring, and fall weather. They have an extra liner and easily hook up to the Flex Jacket for those cold winter rides. The liner is easily removable for those hot summer rides, and they are all around vented for any temperatures in between |

| I've worn these the last several days in the early spring of the Utah mountains. So, I have not worn these in hot weather, but have worn them in everything from mid-30s to mid-60s.
This is an incredibly versatile pant and well-built. As others have said (see the reviews on the normal length and elsewhere on the Web), they are certainly not the most stylish pant, but if you're looking for bang for the buck, this is it. Essentially, it's four pants in one... Quilted removable liner, removable windproof/waterproof liner, pant shell itself, and then the shell has huge sections that remove to expose mesh in the heat. Even when down to the mesh, the pant offers the protection of removable knee and hip armor. The knee armor could stand to be moved up a bit higher in this pant given that it's the short length, but with three adjustable settings, it works pretty well.
Even in the mid-30s, I've yet to use the quilted liner. Instead, I've used this as an overpant with just the shell, or the shell and the windproof/waterproof liner. Needless to say, when all three layers are on, this is a very bulky pant. But again, you're essentially getting four pants for the price of one.
This short length fits me very well and I'm 5'6". I wear a 30" inseam in jeans.
My only complaint is that the side zipper on the two inner layers (specifically the windproof/waterproof layer) doesn't go up as high as the shell's side zipper, making it difficult to get on and off over boots. Shipping was slower than normal for LeatherUp, presumably because these are drop-shipped directly from TourMaster.
Overall, a very good product. |
