Founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan, Bridgestone quickly became one of the worlds largest rubber and tire manufactures, and by 2005 they international company had over 140 production facilities in twenty-four countries. After purchasing Firestone in 1988, Bridgestone made in-land progression towards having it's own tire production facility here in the United States. Bridgestone now has multiple distribution and manufacturing plants all around the country, with headquarters located in Tennessee.
Bridgestone has been synonymous with motorcycle racing for many years, and since 2009 they have been the official tire of the Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing's main class MotoGP.
