L. from OCEANSIDE, CA:
got this jacked in march ride to work everyday. the zippers on the rain protections do not work any more and the zippers on the mesh stopped working also. the jacked pants compo keeps warm, dry and protected, but if the zippers keep on breaking then the jacket will be useless.

James S. from STONE MTN, GA:
I ordered my true size, xl, and had to return it as it was too small. Order up in size. The jacket was well made and had a lot of features. With the armor, the jacket was a bit too heavy for my liking, but most armored jackets are going to be on the heavy side. Will reorder from Leatherup but a different style. Their products are always high quality at great prices!!

Jeffrey R. from WILMINGTON, IL:
This is my 2nd Xelement jacket first one is leather. Both I did one size up from what the fit guide says. I'm 5'9" 165 lbs a little wide in the chest and found the large to be a good fit. With the waterproof liner and the quilted liner I do loosen up the side straps. I'm not a real fan of the main zipper. It can sip from either the top or bottom and sometimes have to jiggle it to zip evenly. With both liners there are a lot of pockets but with just the mesh jacket there are just the 2 side zipper, one inside left chest and the 2 outer chests which are on the smaller size, just able to get a smart phone in it. They are all lined which makes it nice when running into unexpected rain. The mesh is a great feature especially on the 88 degree days we've had in Illinois. Even rode when it got down to 68 just tightened up the sleeves and it reduced the air flow. I do have a windshield which helps too. The only other minor compliant is the padding seams a bit bulky but I'm sure if I went down I wouldn't complain. I had left the jacket on the bike during a downpour so it was soaked inside and out including the pads. I popped in the rain liner to keep the wetness off and in about 15 minutes of riding with a windshield all was dry. Removed the rain liner and on my vented way. Would definitely recommend the jacket and Leather Up.

Richard G. from TEHACHAPI, CA:
Ordered a large mostly due to sleeve length, as I'm 6'1" at 175lbs. The fit was very good and sleeve length about right. I rode on a cold CA morning, approx. 45 degrees and it was comfortable. Some air did go up the sleeves as I had on fair weather gloves. Did not wear my heated vest as I normally would with my leather MC jacket to see how the jacket did, and I believe that the heated vest is no longer needed. The following morning with temps around 50 degrees, I wore only the inner liners of the jacket with my vest over the liners and again was comfortable to the days ride. I am very happy with this jacket even though it is not a true MC jacket, but it looks and functions the way I need it to at 61 yrs. old. These old bones feel the cold more then they used to. Overall very satisfied with the jackets performance and fit. Tried a medium first but just a bit too small in the frame, and sleeves were definitely too short for me. Have ordered many things from LeatherUp and have not been let down yet. Next is a pair of overpants to replace my leather chaps.

Ken S. from ISSAQUAH, WA:
Outstanding, smart looking, super practical jacket. More like a café jacket, but with some mild adventure touring features thrown in. I purchased as a summer jkt only and it's too hot to know how it will handle cooler weather as of yet. Item is true to size, a little on the roomy size but definitely wouldn't go one size up as the service rep suggested. I wear medium in all my Harley/cycle gear and this fits the same, the arms are a tad long but perfect when wearing on bike. It does cut the wind a bit, so whatever the ambient temperature, add 5-7 degrees of perceived warmth. Ok to about 75F then a tad uncomfortable for me anyways, but I'm fussy about that sort of thing (too many years riding stupid in t shirts). It does have ample and pretty comfortable armor where you need it and makes me feel way more secure when riding. It is extremely well thought out and I had no issues with QC though the zippers could be better as noted. Still for the price, you will not find anything with this feature set, I know, I've been looking hi and lo. Very pleasantly surprised.

John W S. from Lakewood, CO:
Just received jacket and felt a rating should be given even before use. I separated the jacket layers very carefully and one of the jacket zippers still broke. The outer jactet looks good and the fit is perfet. Detaching the layers gave me the feeling the snaps should not be re-used. I plan on using the layers unattached to each other. I went to the Xelement web site and you are paying the suggested retail price. I will keep it but I would NOT recommend it to anyone.

Don Z. from ENTERPRISE, KS:
I bought this jacket because it says "ALL SEASON" I rode 77 miles to a doctor appointment this morning at 38 degrees, torso was fine but arms were cold, wind goes right through it , stopped and put a sweatshirt , then wasn't to bad . still feel the cold through the sleeve. The cuffs were pulled tight and I wear gauntlet gloves so the cold was not going up the sleeve. Was going to exchange it for a same price coat but since I wore it , it's not returnable.. Items like this I will buy directly from the store . Every other item I bought from leatherup has been fine .. Would not recommend this coat for cold weather.

Alan Shattuck from VENTURA, CA:
I ordered my regular size, Large, and it fits snug but works. If you want to put something under it then order the next size up. With the armor in the elbows it makes your arms kind of stiff and takes some getting used to. The first day I wore it I ripped off one of the snaps inside the cuff that holds the sleeve for the rain liner. Also it took me 1/2 an hour to get the inside zipper pocket to unzip. then when I zipped it back up it stuck again, so after another 20 minutes of working at it once I got it unzipped I used a needle and thread to sew the zipper together near the top so it could not be zipped up all the way. Otherwise the jacket works great.

Great buy! Fit and finish is very good and the level of options is great too. If your looking for a jacket that offers warmth, style...and is more then reasonably priced...look no further. I'm 5'7" 185 and ordered a large...fits perfect.

Nice and heavy. The entire jacket is basically all mesh. Has a little vest as well as a waterproof liner. With out the water proof liner the jacket is very breathable. Like not wearing a jacket at all. Very comfortable. But that liner in and it turns into a sauna. No water in, no water out. I took it out. I don't ride in the rain anyhow. I am 5'11" and 230lbs. XL fit very well and my wife even said it makes me look thinner.

BRIAN L. from LEESVILLE, SC:
Purchased a two layer "Xelement Men's CF-626 Armored Race Motorcycle Jacket" a year ago for 79.95. That jacket was warmer than this four layer jacket. Only reason I wanted a new jacket was due to buying a different color bike. The arms are much colder on this jacket. One of the arm strap snaps pulled loose the first time I tried to unsnap it. It did a great job of keeping me dry in the rain though. Should be a good summer bike with the two linings out.

Harold D. from MARANA, AZ:
Great jacket for the money, definitely order one size larger. The jacket is extremely comfortable to wear even down to 27 degrees with an insulated shirt for arm warmth. The only problem I have with the jacket is the lack of arm insulation. I think a full sleeved insulation layer would be the only needed upgrade to this jacket. Other than that I love the jacket, its great. Fits great and moves very freely with you.

Good jacket for the money, definitely order one size larger. With both liners installed have ridden comfortably down to 30 degrees with nothing more than a long sleeve shirt underneath. Also good and dry when caught in the rain bearing in mind I rider a cruiser with a windshield. Some quality issues with buttons for the cold weather liner and Velcro seal on the wet weather liner, but easy fixes. I am happy with the jacket.

Decent jacket for the price. My wife is currently resewing the liner as it is coming apart at the seams. Also reattaching the loops that hold the liner in the sleeves. Other than that no problems so far. Of course, It's only been a couple of weeks.

Eric W. from RUSSELL SPGS, KY:
Love this jacket! Have worn it from the mid 50s to high 80s so far, and it has kept me comfortable. Enough breeze to keep you cool. Enough cover to keep you from getting cold and wind-weary, and that is without the liners in. Should serve me when in all seasons when I am able to ride. I will echo what others have said about fit. If you are a big guy, you'll want to order up a size or two. I normally wear 2x and 3x in shirts and jackets. Ordered a 5x after reading other reviews and I don't think the 4x would have fit. Other that, this is a great jacket. Comfortable even with the armor in. Seems to be well constructed and durable. Looks good and has drawn several compliments. As a new rider who started in a t-shirt, I feel much better riding with it.

Gregory U. from Venice, CA:
I'm 6', 185lbs. and broad shouldered and went with a Large based on Leather Up's telephone sales person. I ordered on a Friday late morning and the jacket arrived the next afternoon. The jacket fits me a bit awkwardly compared to a much higher end jacket a friend lent me while I shopped around. It's a little bit big around the middle. The elbow pads everyone complains about seem like they're in the right place for me. The bulk of the pad rides forward of the elbow on the lower part of the upper forearm which is exactly where you want it to be if you take a spill. I'm in Southern California and recently experienced 90F weather. The shell by itself was really cool and well ventilated and I felt protected by the armor. Temps got into the 60's at night and the quilted interior vest and waterproof layer kept me comfortable. My only pet peeve is that you are unable to use just the jacket and quilted vest. You must use all three layers or just the shell. You can make it work by turning the quilted vest inside out but this seems like a workaround. All in all I'm very satisfied with Leather Up and my purchase. I would definitely order it again from these guys.

Paul B. from HENDERSON, NV:
I bought this jacket for a cross country ride that has seen temps from 102 to the low 60s. It's worked great in all weather. The mesh without lining is as close as you can get to wearing nothing, and with the lining only I've been able to tolerate the lower temps. May have to break down and use the insulated liner before I get home. The size is a bit small when you get to larger sizes. I wear a 3X usually and bought the 5X jacket. It fits but barely around the waist (52).

Omar S. from LOUISVILLE, KY:
I am 5'11, 190lbs, 34" waist. This is a great jacket. It has two removable internal liners (one water proof) that I immediately removed. I also removed the removable armor. The built in armor is oddly placed as other reviewers have mentioned. The mesh is very breathable when moving but as you can imagine gets very hot when stopping for more than about 10 seconds. Pockets are very small so don't plan on carrying anything other than wallet, keys, and phone. The sleeves are a little long but otherwise this jacket is exactly what I wanted and exactly as described. I think it will serve a good 3 season jacket (will probably need the liners and a sweatshirt underneath for fall. For the price I think it's a super purchase.

Tim O. from LONGMONT, CO:
Ordered small, fits well (I'm 5'9 170lbs, 34" waist) except that the arms are a bit long and the armor on the elbows is almost not protecting my elbows). If you are any shorter than me, I don't know if the elbow armor would do anything except protect your forearms. First one I ordered had the sewn-in liner twisted making in near impossible to put my arm through the sleeve, but leather-up exchanged it for me for a non-defective jacket. Both jackets had awkward zippers. Sometimes they work the first try, but I've struggled (sweating like crazy in the heat) for 10 minutes to get the zipper to start. The trick seems to be applying an outward pressure on the zipper when starting it so that it lifts a tiny burr (not sure if it this is a defect or engineered 'feature', but it existed on both jackets) out of the way and lets the zipper start. The zipper seems to get better with use (or maybe practice). The jacket keeps me quite cool while moving, and baking when waiting at a red-light. Sweating while at red-lights in Colorado, followed by going up in the mountains (temp dropping 5 degrees, and being in the shadows) actually can make you downright cold even though it's 80 degrees until the sweat finished evaporating. The mesh acts like a nice evaporative cooler. Quality seems acceptable, and considering the price, I'm happy

Great jacket. No puff up, you don't feel the wind beating on you just a nice breeze thru the jacket. Bad thing is it is black and if not moving it gets hot, I have ordered a silver jacket. My measurement was around the shoulders not just chest and I got perfect fit.

Jeremy O. from WHEATON, IL:
I've been very pleased with the jacket so far. The mesh has been nice and cool for the summer, and it feels comfortable with the liners in as well. I'm 5'11, 185 lbs, and I needed a small--the jackets seem to run big if you're average sized. The only complaint that I have is that the front zipper is a pain to get started. But I'm willing to put up with that for the cost. Also, the picture makes it look like the jacket is gray (which I wasn't crazy about), but it's definitely black. I'd say it's actually a very nice looking jacket!

I ordered an XL for my chest measurement of 49", and it fits perfectly. Looks good, is (pleasantly) cooler than expected for hot weather riding. Jacket weighs quite a bit. Sometimes have a little trouble getting it unzipped. Good jacket, especially for the money. I would recommend it.

Terry C. from FLORENCE, OR:
I ordered this jacket strictly for hot weather riding. I am impressed with how well it works in that application. I've used it in mid 90's and I stay pleasantly cool as long as I'm moving. It's surprisingly light and not at all restrictive even with the armor. Three piece liner that is a little more complicated than need be but it does give you options. Has plenty of pockets and a number of simple size adjustments. I'm 5'7 , 160lbs. and a medium fits really well. The one complaint I have is the zip out liner has a faulty zipper. I got it on sale and sending it back for another at my expense would have nullified the money I saved so I opted to just keep it. The waterproof liner is 100% vinyl and can be a bit sticky on bare arms. Long sleeves underneath are an easy fix. With the exception of the bad zipper, I still give this a five at this price point. A hundred bucks for an armored mesh jacket that works is a great deal.

I was very happy with my purchase initially. The design & fit were excellent. The collar was comfortable. However, the 2nd time I wore it, the zipper on the outer shell would no longer zip. I contacted LeatherUp and they were easy to work with to arrange a replacement. I return-shipped the jacket and then found out they were unable to replace it so they refunded my money. It makes me wonder if they only stock one or 2 of each size??

I read alot about the sizing of this jacket before purchasing. I ordered according to the sizing chart provided by xelemet for this particular model. I am 5-9 and 170 lbs and ordered the small as indicated by my chest and waist measurments on the chart. I normally wear a medium in jackets. The jacket arrived in good shape and fits well. These jackets do seem to run large, but if you order by the chart you should be fine. I put about 1200 miles on the jacket in light rain and hot riding conditions in Texas. The jacket preformed well and dried quickly after the rain and kept me cool in the heat. I have a First Gear mesh jacket and it is heavier built and amored better but the xelement is still a decent jacket and will be my goto in hot weather.
