Yeah, these do run small. I usually wear 3X jackects and shirts but the #x was way too small for me. So I sent it back and ordered a 5X. The 5X is even pushing it fit wise. Overall it is a good value.

Clark K. from Austin, TX:
CRASH TESTED this jacket at 40mph in August (liner removed) and ended up with road rash all over the left side of my abdomen and chest. The pads did a good job protecting my elbows and back but the mesh material on the front did not offer good abrasion protection. Fairly comfortable in high temperatures, breathes well. A lot better than a T-shirt but I have since bought a new jacket for better crash protection.

Great jacket! I checked out reviews and saw that someone said the size runs small. I'm average size and ordered an XL. Good call. Jacket fits great, love it. and the price was very well worth it. Very happy with this purchase.

Jay G. from Colorado Springs, CO:
Nice Jacket, but unfortunately the size ran too small. I ordered a large because that is my normal size, but I tried it on and it fit like a really snug wet suit. These jackets may not be made to be loose fitting, but I would order at least one size larger and if you are on the gray area between two sizes, order one bigger than the larger size. I returned the jacket, and am still waiting for my refund notice. I can't speak to the durability since I didn't wear it, but the jacket did seem to be of high quality.

Kerry C. from FRANKLIN, NC:
My jacket was not as described, however I decided to keep instead of sending back. It did not have the Xelement badges on the arms as described in the item details, and contained a "gun pocket" which was not in item details. I'm 6'2", 180lbs and ordered a large. The jacket fits well and being summer now I zipped out lineing and wear a t-shirt under. Will have room for a base layer with lining installed for cooler weather. The jacket has good airflow for summer heat without lineing.

First off, the Large fit me perfectly. I wear a size 42R sport coat and a 16.5" neck, 35" sleeve slim cut shirt. I'm 6' tall and weigh 195 lbs. The jacket is loaded with quality features, especially when considering the price. It looks great and has all of the pocket space I need. I haven't owned it long enough to assess the durability, but it feels like a quality jacket.

I am 6'1" 275# 51"chest 49"waist the 4x fit very well with the liner in and with it out I had plenty of adjustability in the hip, underarm and arm straps. Jacket breathes well when you are moving a little hot when stopped, as expected. Shipping was fast, excellent quality, comparable to Joe Rocket products. Sizing is much smaller than Joe Rockets though-my Joe Rocket textile jacket 4x is much bigger. Too big now. X-Element makes a good product and Leather Up delivers great Customer Service.

I like it. I bought the 3X as suggested and it is just right (6'3" 250 lbs). I took the liner out as I am on the Gulf Coast. The protective armor is in all the right places and makes me feel confident I would fair better in a tumble. The wind goes right through it so it is like riding with a T-Shirt which if I was stupid (and I used to be) I would do. The Velcro adjustments really make it a custom fit. I am a customer for sure.

Very nice mesh jacket, plenty of pockets and adjustments. Order 2 sizes bigger than you normally wear. Mine did not come with the big shoulder patches so I was happy about that. The handgun pocket is a nice extra feature.

I really like the jacket although I had some issues with the fitting. I have a 4xl and the left sleeve fits great but the right sleeve fits tight. I guess it can't be perfect. I just recently rode with it in 41 degree weather and it kept me nice and warm. I am satisfied with the jacket.

This jacket is a steal. Go a size larger than you normally wear. Fits like a glove. Got it 3 weeks ago. Been in the 50s-60s since I got it. I wear a goose down vest under it and it is plenty warm even in the low 50s. Cuts all wind except a little in the arms. Very comfortable to wear. Lots of pockets. Great protective padding. I can't say enough about it. I am very happy.

Anthony A. from LAKEPORT, CA:
I love this jacket. I ride primarily in Northern California where the incliment weather is perfect for the breathable mesh material. On chilly morning, I use the liner (which is very easy to take out and put in) and find it more than sufficient to keep me warm(ish). The look and feel make the jacket great, but when you also factor in the fantastic price, this is a jacket that can't be beat. Two small notes: I have seen reviews that complain about logo patches on the arms; my jacket came with no such logo patches; which is nice. The second note is to be sure to order one size larger than you think. I had to return the first jacket but the process was pretty easy.

Kevin H. from DEWEY, AZ:
I read a number of reviews concerning fit. While some were "Fits to Size" others were a bit more critical of the sizing. I am a solid 2X that can go low 3X depending on how good the meal was, languishing over the sizing chart for some time I ordered in 3X and it is very tight, so much so that I cannot wear it with the liner. No problem with that tho since I bought for Arizona summer riding. Being that the jacket is tapered I do not know how to recommend others on how to order theirs based on the sizing chart. Not everyone is tapered. I could have ordered the 4X which would have been too large but a comfortable fit. Just spend some time prior to ordering this jacket to assure the right fit BUT order it you should. Putting the sizing aside, this is an excellent Jacket that perfectly meets my needs. Air flow is perfect, the armor is placed just right spots and offers great protection. This jacket if the best I have had that offers protection and warm weather comfort. I took a five hour ride in 100 weather and was not completely destroyed at days end. Two other notes, there were no shoulder badges on mine which was great, (saved me from having to cut them off) and the back three piece armor is non removable. The secondary piece of back armor is removable so consider this if you are thinking about "patching up" the back. Remember you should be buying this for protection over a fashion show its about CYA and nothing else.

Everything you read in previous reviews is true ! This is an excellent warm weather jacket. Comfortable. gave four stars for fit due to neck heeding about 3/4-1" more room. Otherwise, a great jacket I will reccomend to friends.

Very comfortable jacket. Keeps me warm to and from work when it is in the 50's, not too bad without the liner in the 80's. Comforting knowing the padding and armor is there. Definately not waterproof. As many others have said, order a size or two bigger. I am 6 foot 275 lbs. and I wear 2XL clothing. I ordered a 4xl, and it's a bit snug on the belly area.

Dezra P. from Walla Walla, WA:
I ordered this jacket middle of April this year, been wearing it everywhere for about 5 months now, it works beautifully in the 80-100 degree weather we've had here this summer. it wasn't so great for earlier in the year when it was hitting 20 at night, and it's not particularly waterproof, but it's a great summer jacket, and it's cheap. I do have one small complaint, the stitching on the pocket for the removable armor in the left elbow has torn, and the armor keeps trying to slip out the other end. not a big deal, just have to adjust it when I put the jacket on, but still annoying. I suspect my watch is to blame for that one though.

Great Jacket. I wasn't sure which size to get when ordering but reading the reviews convinced me to order the XL and I was not dissappointed. I am 6' 220 lbs and it fits perfectly. I am very comfortable wearing the jacket in the heat for protection as it breathes well. It looks great as well. I would recommend the item to anyone. The only thing and it is a small thing some of the stitching was not completed as well as it could have been. It was easily taken care of. Other than that a 9.5/10...

Excellent quality jacket. Padding in all the right places. I love the removable liner on cold mornings it keeps me comfortable and blocks the wind. In the afternoon just pull it out and your comfortable in the heat of the day. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great riding jacket but doesn't want to spend a small fortune. Great value! Thank you.

Excellent jacket, maybe not quite as nice as some of the more expensive, but for nearly a quarter of the cost it's well worth it. It is true to size, and fits well. Not sure how well the armor will hold up in a crash, hope I never find out. But lets face it, any padding and abrasion resistance is better than a T shirt.

Nathaniel B. from ATCHISON, KS:
I purchased this for my young son (he rides with me); it's a bit big on him, but with the straps, it cinches right into position and it's fine. Certainly nothing can make an accident feel GOOD, but I feel that the appropiate armor and good skid-proof build of this jacket is great (his mom quit complaining when I got this jacket for him). This jacket is ALL mesh and VERY breathable. As other reviewers have stated, it gets hot in the sun, but once you are moving, it cools right down. For an armored jacket, you couldn't ask for a cooler jacket. In fact, if the temp is less than 60F, my son has to wear his other armored jacket as he gets too cold. NOTE: there aren't really enough pockets in this jacket, but this is my ONLY complaint.

Evan H. from TUCSON, AZ:
Great jacket. A bit heavy, but well armored and sinches up nicely. The jacket is true to size and feels like you have nothing on when moving. Have not used the liner yet as I live in Tucson and it's not often that it is too chilly out. I only gave it four stars because I have not had the jacket very long, nor have I been down with the jacket, so I can not speak to its durability as of yet. Seems like it is well made, though.

Joe F. from ALTAMONTE SPG, FL:
I took my motorcycle class this past August, got my license and bought a used bike by December. I accidentally ran across this website. I liked the products, unfortunately too many items I selected were sold out in medium. I finally got this one jacket and I'm super happy with it. I went by the size chart. I almost went with large only because so many recommended it. But I held my breath and got the medium. Not to offend anyone but I've noted that many bikers have really big guts and perhaps that is why they go with a larger size. I'm 52 years old, 6 foot, 180 lbs. flat abs only because I run and go to the gym. I was so pleased with the product that I ordered a rain suit and saddle bags. I can't say enough good things about the items and Leather Up. Almost forgot, I exhausted all the other websites and Leather Up could not be beat!

I am 6 ft., 220 lbs. Ordered the XL and it fit very well. Snug with the liner in and perfect without the liner. Good quality. I plan to wear this on cool days with the liner and warm days without the liner. If you want to wear the jacket during very cold weather, you might order a size up to accomodate extra clothing that might be worn underneath.

Great jacket but the sizes are a bit different. I just got this jacket and it seems great. Well worth the price and a great fit. Speaking of fit.... I am 5'8" tall and weigh 185 pounds. normally I would wear a medium or more often a large. The other reviews said the jacket runs small so I ordered an extra large and it is perfect. It's hard to believe how good it looks and the adjustments on the waist, sleeves, and chest all are perfect for making it just tight enough. The wrist closures shut those too. I have yet to ride with it so I will revise it when the weather in New England gets above freezing- probably in May! It is nice not to have a bunch of gaudy labels on it as I don't care to advertise for anyone.

You cant beat this for the money, I had one that I got in a bad accident, and it did a great job of protecting me, and it did not even rip or anything in a 45 MPH crash, the only reason I got another one to replace it, was because I lost a lot of weight, and the other one was too big, one thing, you might want to go a size up from your regular size, as they run a little small

I'm 5'10", 175#'s, about a 34 waist, 46 chest, and normally wear a 34/35 sleeve. I chose the large size and it fits PERFECT. Almost like it was a custom made jacket. The padding is top notch and the jacket is rather heavy due to the removable liner and padding. Excellent quality that is comparable to similar jackets costing double or triple the price. Mine didn't come with the distracting patch on the sleeve, which made it an even better looking jacket. Highly recommended. Get yours before they realize they got a winner on their hands and raise the price.

I'm a 6'-2", 175lbs male. The size large mesh jacket has been great, so far. Riding with a tee shirt & jacket without the liner feels as cool as with tee shirt alone. Armor makes me feel much safer. If the back plate start heating me up, I can just shift position slightly and get air to go under it!

Curtis F. from BIRMINGHAM, AL:
Great jacket. First of all, one of the top issues seems to be fit and what size to get. I reviewed the size chart and realize that I fell somewhere between the XL and 2XL - chest is 47" and I have a 34" waist. Knowing that I like a snug - not tight - fit while riding, I went with the XL and it fits perfectly with or without the zip-out liner. The adjustable Velcro waist tabs cinch it up nicely. Likewise, the adjautable tabs near the chest give a tailored, almost custom fit. The shoulder, back and elbow armor is in perfect position. Sleeve length is perfect (typically wear a 35" dress shirt sleeve, but these are slightly longer to compensate for the riding position), as it the overall length of the jacket back and front. The zippers appear to be rugged and heavy-duty and operate flawlessly. The liner is easy to zip in and out and secures at the wrist with snaps. Although extremely warm right now (highs over 100-degrees), the mesh jacket has great airflow. I haven't riden with the liner in for the obvious reason stated above, but in cooler months it could very well make this a legitimate 3-season jacket. The photo shows an oval logo on the sleeve - mine did not have it and I'm not heart-broken about it. While it is a tasteful logo and not some obnoxious in-your-face thing, I'm not really a logo guy and prefer a clean uncluttered look. Had it been on, I'd have removed it. The jacket does have a bit of reflective piping on the back below the collar. Again - tastefully done. While price was not the largest determining factor in my purchase, it was a consideration. Including shipping it was a few bucks under $80 and for the fit and apparent quality, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value. I went to several bike shops and tried on/checked out numerous other, more expensive models/brands of similar style and protection and I just could not find a reason to warrant paying 2 or 3 times what this jacket cost. Great fit, great quality and style, protection, exceptional value, quick shipping (less than 4 days coast to coast, including a holiday). What more cousl you ask for? Extremely satisfied. Highly recommend.

Fits like a glove. I ride a Victory and enjoy the cruiser look but I'm not into leather so much. This jacket is awesome, comfortable in hot or cold weather and I get compliments on it constantly. The armor looks cool IMO. I cruise with the jacket and just an undershirt and I have been comfortable on the freeway in 50 degree weather going 70mph and have worn when its in the 90's and I don't over heat. Excellent jacket for the price. Fits to size.

I am very pleased with this jacket. I live in south Georgia and it gets very hot and humid in the summer. This jacket allows the air to move through the exterior material, and actually keeps you quite cool when moving. If someone is looking for a lightweight, armored jacket for hot weather riding, look no further. And yes....order one size up.

I bought this jacket ~18 months ago and have been wearing it since in all seasons. I'm prompted to write this review because of an accident I had 11/21/11. A car pulled out in front of me while I was doing 35-40mph. I ended up exiting the bike onto the roadway with the bike landing on my left lower leg and ankle. I'm still recovering (12/24/11) from the ankle injuries but my upper body sustained ZERO injuries. Above the waist I had no scratches or bruises whatsoever ... just as if I never had the accident. I swear by this jacket (comfortable except when stopped on a hot day ... OK in motion) for its comfort but mostly for its proven protection. Thank you X-Element.

This jacket fitted perfect on me and this jacket will be used for riding in Hawaii when I move there. I did have to buy the xx size even though I wear XL and since I'm a body builder the arms section fix is ok even with my 20 inch arm. It is just a little tight when bending over in a sport bike riding position. I'm 5' 9" tall and I weight 212 lbs. I hope this will help someone who wants a summer riding jacket. The jacket looks good and for the price you can't beat it.

Michael R. from JACKSONVILLE, NC:
This jacket is great, but isn't as versatile as I was hoping for. The jacket is advertised as waterproof; being entirely out of a mesh material, I expected the liner to at least be waterproof, but it isn't either. That's really my only issue. It's definitely more of a summer jacket. It gets pretty cold here in North Carolina, so I'll resort to my leather jacket once it gets colder. It has unreal ventilation, and I feel a lot more protected when I wear it, but the liner will only allow you to ride comfortably with just a T-shirt underneath in maybe 60 degrees minimum, then you have to layer it up. I bought a Small and it's fine for me. I'm 5'6" and just 130 lbs.
